The Williams & Wells Co.
We began as a partnership between W.P. Wells and
W.E. Williams in 1906. In 1921, at the age of fourteen, Nathan G. Margolin
joined the company as an errand boy. Mr. Wells was impressed with the
contributions of Nathan, who possessed both a sense of purpose and a dynamic
personality. In 1941, Nathan was unanimously elected Assistant Secretary to the
corporation and was subsequently appointed to the position of President and
Treasurer. In the years prior to Mr. Wells' death, Nathan gradually assumed
full management of the company.
In 1957, in the spirit of the family
business, Nathan's son Stuart joined the company. As a result of his talents
and dedication he was appointed President and Chief Executive officer in
1966. Stuart expanded the business
to include London-England, Kobe-Japan, Hong Kong & Singapore.
As the company continued to thrive, Stuart's
son Bruce joined the company in 1982 and in 1988 was appointed Executive Vice
President. This fact is significant since less than 2% of American family
companies can boast of third-generation active participation. In 2005 Bruce Margolin became President
& CEO and Stuart transitioned to Chairman of the Board. Under the direction of Bruce the
Company expanded into Food Service and took an active foothold in Houston,
Texas through the affiliate Company Alliance Supply Management, Ltd.
While maintaining its high standards of reliability, integrity
and dedication, The Williams & Wells Co., now comprised of a sizable staff
of professionals, has embraced proven and advanced technology to bring the
company into the new millennium.
